View documents without having to download and save

Each time a document or file is viewed it has to be downloaded to the computer and is stored on the hard drive, usually in a default directory. It would be useful if downloading was an option or at the very least an option to delete the document after it was downloaded and viewed. e.g. if one wants to view a PDF on the web this can be done without having to download the file.

Thank you very much for posting your feedback on Viewing documents without having to download and save. At this time, we will not be adding this request to the near-term backlog, as we are focused on improving our search and process variation capabilities and delivering sequential approvals. However, we reevaluate requests every quarter and will reach out if priorities change. Please keep the feedback coming as it is critical for our longer-term planning.

Have you tried utilising the link option when attaching documents to your process? We found that by utilising a central repository of docs ie: team drives, and linking to them, this avoided the download and open, it just opens the linked document from its stored location.

There is a setting on your browser that IT could change for you that resolves this issue.

Absolutely, this would be amazing, especially for images, if we could hover over to see a popup that would save so much time.

This would be a great idea as it would also mitigate against the risk of users downloading content and referring to the potentially outdated downloaded content instead of going into Promapp to find the most recent content

Has there been any movement on this? Just seems illogical that a user has to download to view (even preview) a document.

This is definitely a good idea, really we should be able to open the document without it downloading and have the option to download.
