Allow changes to start form

When we design a form, it's common to need to allow a user to update their submission - ESPECIALLY when the form is complex, or has a repeating section.

Right now there doesn't seem to be a way to do this unless you use a sharepoint form. Unfortunately, sharepoint forms don't allow for database connectivity. This is a big hole in functionality.

Simply rejecting a request with a complex form, and asking a user to fill all the data in again wastes the submitter's time, and reduces or negates the time savings we're looking for from a product like nintex.

We either need to be able to allow the user to update the submission (as a result of assigning them a task), or we need to be able to easily store/rerender the data from the first form to a new one (currently not possible if using a repeater).

    Hi Drew,

    Thanks for reaching out.

As Brady pointed out, we recently released a feature to support the latter of your ask - the ability to re-render the data from the first form into a new form submission in "Copy form data".

    • Copy form data: The form values from a previous submission are copied into a new form submission, where participants have a chance to review and update the form before submitting. This will enable participants to speed up the process of repetitive, lengthy form submissions. For more information, see the Copy form data help content.

I believe you can do this from the Workflow Tracking portion of the My Nintex section in NAC. If I click on an instance of a workflow that was started via the form, I have a "Copy from data" button in the fly-out pane on the right. Using this, it will open up the starting form, populated with all the form data that was originally submitted. Changes can be made before submitting it again.
