Improve Usability of Instance Activities Scrolling in Workflow Instance Page

Currently, the "Instance Activities" section on the Workflow Instance page displays its own scrollbar. However, this scrollbar is not actually functional because scrolling through the activities is handled by the main scrollbar of the Workflow Instance page.

As confirmed by Nintex Support, this behavior is working as designed. The nested scrollbar is displayed, but users must use the page-level scrollbar to navigate through the activities.

This creates several usability issues:

  • The nested scrollbar appears to be usable, but it does not provide independent scrolling functionality.

  • When the mouse cursor is positioned over the Instance Activities section, users often expect the mouse wheel to scroll the activities within that section.

  • In workflows with a large number of activities, navigation becomes confusing because the displayed scrollbar does not behave as users expect.

  • The presence of a non-functional scrollbar may lead users to believe that the page is not responding correctly.

Suggested improvements:

Option 1:
Remove the nested scrollbar from the Instance Activities section and rely solely on the main page scrollbar.

Option 2:
Make the Instance Activities scrollbar fully functional so that users can independently scroll the activities within the section.

Option 3:
Provide a configuration option that allows administrators to choose between the current behavior and independent scrolling.

Improving this behavior would provide a more intuitive user experience and reduce confusion when viewing workflow instances with many activities.
