Currently we have around well over 500 employees that use 600+ Promapp processes we have in various departments and a lot of middle management turnover. Now its a huge manual task to change the Process Owner and Process expert fields whenever there is an organisational reshuffle and or new/exiting from business personnel. Role names dont change so would be far easier to have option to assign a role name as opposed a person's name in any owner, expert fields of process?

Yes, but I wouldn't want to have the Lane and Pool constrained to defined roles in Process manager.
