Not Able to handle null value retrieved on run time from salesforce

hi Team,
I have one scenario where , I want field fetch value form salesforce and if its has value than we need to take an action and if value is returning no value than need to take another action, But run time no value check is failing with Nilclass exception and we are not able to do any thing , please let me know , if there is way to handle no value returned from run time

    A little late on this - we've made updates and we do handle the return of null values without failing the workflow.

    we have been working with NWC team so closely from last 8 month and many suggestion have been incorporated , design time salsforce activity were taking so much time to get configure,express approval outcome option , reminder email ,and default outcome task expiration time limit and many more , please take this also in account as it is widely used in process

    Just to confirm if the field type is a number/integer where you're trying to evaluate if it's NULL or it is both.
