Default Value for Data Lookup

Should be able to determine a default value for a Data Lookup control. This could be configured so that the default would be the "first" value returned by the control, or when the data lookup only returns one value it automatically becomes the value that is displayed.

      Hello,

The functionality is available using the Single Choice Control instead of the Data Lookup Control.

We recently upgraded the Single Choice Control to allow options from an External Data Source ( including collections as an input), and we have also enabled the Default Value to be set in Single Choice. If you choose the 'Drop-down list' option, the Single Choice Control effectively becomes a Data Lookup Control.

I highly encourage you to use the Single Choice Control instead of the Data Lookup Control, as many more enhancements are coming for the choice controls, including removing duplicates.

Great UX idea! When using a unique identifier input to filter other data lookup fields, there usually is only ever one value available. Saves the effort of having to go then click on each data lookup field.

The situation is this: A form routes to different people and those different people are allowed to make edits to those fields. If the field is a data lookup, it is not possible to 1) display the previously selected value at the same time as 2) allowing the options for the data lookup.
I think if we can set a default value from a list or start event variable, then it should show that value first in the data lookup field but the user could click on that field and change it based on the other values returned from the data lookup connection.

This situation is very common for many of my forms.
I hope you will consider this.

I need to pass the default value as a parameter to the form, then allow the user to change it if necessary.
