Support for Choice Column is set to "Checkboxes (Allow Multiple Selections)" in SharePoint On-Premises Start Event Controls on Task Forms

Currently, Start Event variable controls are unusable on a task form when the start event is configured to SharePoint On-Premises with a list that contains a Choice column with "Checkboxes (allow multiple selections" selected. There's otherwise no indication that this isn't supported, and no error appears to suggest that Checkboxes (Allow Multiple Selections) causes the issue with controls on Task forms.
